It's kind of funny that people use this as the benchmark of a good Chinese restaurant, and that is so often seems to work. The Chinese food that I like in North America is totally different from the Chinese food I like in China. I think a lot of the most popular foods here in China would be disgusting to most North Americans, so why is it that Chinese people eating Chinese food at a place should be a good sign for non-Chinese North Americans? Maybe it's just that Chinese people eat Chinese food more often and avoid places that are bad restaurants, and bad restaurants are just recognized as bad by everybody?
