Very true; the chipping on the case has been an issue on the last two that I've owned. As soon as you notice a chip, (assuming it's no longer under warranty) put a piece of scotch tape over it to stop it from spreading. Hopefully this is no longer an issue with the new 'brick' manufacturing process.

Spaces is great - I use it all the time; I usually keep one space for my web browser and chat client, and then another one or two for whatever productivity apps I'm using. Flipping between spaces is just a lot easier than stacking windows.
