I quit smoking Feb 2, 2008. I had an insanely busy summer with work, and so I had to quit my soccer team, and never managed to play hockey this winter. I stepped on a scale in November and noticed that I had put on 25 pounds since February. I had never really varied more than 5 pounds from my standard weight since high school, so this was a bit of a big deal.

Luckily I have a nice gym at work, so I've been running 2 miles a day since the end of November. I've managed to lose 10 pounds, but it's no longer about the weight. Now that I've started running I've got the bug. I'm hoping to work my way up to 4 or 5 miles a day by the start of soccer season. Combine that with quitting smoking and I'm getting very excited with what I might be able to accomplish next year.

As for Eastern Girl, I would absolutely freak out if someone tried to talk to me while I was running. I have a pace and a rhythm and a frame of mind while I'm running, there's no chance I would be able to continue if someone was talking to me. Brutal.
