Call microsoft, tell them you got the 3 red rings, give them your info and they'll tell you if it is going to be fixed. If they tell you it'll cost money question them as to why. If you bought it and have it registered, and have been the owner the whole time they should fix it.
They'll email you a shipping slip which you print off. You can box your Xbox yourself, but I let the UPS store do it for me for about $5. Make sure you don't include any custom faceplates, your hard drive or any games with the Xbox because they won't be sending the same one back.
It'll take anywhere from 3 weeks to a little over a month to get your new (refurbished) Xbox back.
