TVersity is the easiest solution to the Xbox media center stuff. Unfortunately Windows Media Center doesn't support most of the current video codecs out there, meaning it needs to get transcoded. TVersity handles all that for you without getting into the nitty gritty of it.

that's what i love about the PS3 i got for christmas. out of the box it recognized and was able to play all my movies on my PC, without any 3rd party software. the XBOX has gotten a lot better since launch, but ironically the PS3 is still better for natively opening files on a Windows network
