Hi Guys, I'm wondering what the must have applications you use to keep your computer running smooth are?

I'm assuming the following:

-Anti-Virus (I'm using AVG which is free, is there a better one?)
-Some kind of Registry Cleaner
-Some kind of Ad/Spyware Cleaner

If you can give me some suggestions for the above items and any additional programs that would be great. Also, how often should a defrag be done?
