Cigarettes and liquor are all currently legal in our country. Why is the government dictating what retailers can or cannot sell? These products are in sealed packages, they do not harm the customers who walk past the displays.
We already have laws to prevent the sale of them to minors. If a retailer violates that law, then fine, pull their license to sell those products.

Remember how selling alcohol is restricted to liquor stores? Why should feeding a smoking habit be easier than buying alcohol? Restricting the sale of them makes it less likely people will buy them, which is good for overall public health. This isn't complicated.
Personally, it's great that I don't have to stand in line at the drug store behind someone needing cough medicine and a 12 pack.
