Yams and Sweet Potatoes are actually different vegetables. Sweet Potatoes are the darker, orange colored of the two. Both are very good for you. I have 'em three, sometimes four times a week. Roasted in the oven, they retain their nutritional value.
Also, Japanese Daikon Radish is great sliced thin on sandwiches or in salads. It was a mild taste and a crunchy texture.
