Midnight at Walmart
My Wife has some family staying with us over the holidays. We obviously needed to get some gifts for them and their kids. My shopping is done and since there was no way I'm going to shop on the 24th if I can help it I decide I'm going to Walmart at about midnight last night. Now I don't go into a Walmart at the best of times but I thought this was a smart idea as I'd most certainly be avoiding the throngs of crazy Walmart morlocks if I went this late in the night. Right?
Wrong. The parking lot was 3/4 full. Inside there were all kinds of interesting people. People in sweatpants or decked out in their best Nascar gear. People who barricade the aisles with their shopping carts so they can play with the classy animatronic Santa decorations and laugh hysterically at them while I try to squeeze by. Many different ethnic backgrounds were represented. I may have seen some circus folk. The most shocking thing to me was the amount of children there at that time of night. Are you kidding me Cletus? Do your kids really want to be following along behind you at almost one in the morning so you can pick up some extra soda and cheese doodles? The toy section looked like a bomb went off in there and God help you if you need a question answered by the crack late night staff.
I'm leaving shortly for Toys R Us and my morning is going to suck out loud.
