My wife's optometrist is telling her that it is illegal to buy contacts online, which seems stupid.

I can understand that people buying contacts without consulting an optometrist first, or ordering the wrong contacts might be a problem, but if you get the right kind from your optometrist and order the right kind, what's the problem?

Maybe they should lower the prices on their contacts if they're losing business to online vendors.

Anyone else been told this?
