Continuing with my theme of trying to squeeze (foreshadowing?) something from the 80's into every category...I pick in the folk/world/whatever category:
Tanita Tikaram's album
Ancient Heart
Released in 1988 when she was but 19. Recieved quite a bit of airplay and it came to my attention when I heard "Twist In My Sobriety". Really liked the record then and still like it today.
All words and music by Tanita Tikaram.
- "Good Tradition"
- "Cathedral Song"
- "Sighing Innocents"
- "I Love You"
- "World Outside Your Window"
- "For All These Years"
- "Twist in My Sobriety"
- "Poor Cow"
- "He Likes the Sun"
- "Valentine Heart"
- "Preyed Upon"
I will post this now and then add some youtube, if I find any.
She is known for her husky voice and poetic lyrics. I also find some of her songs hauntingly beautiful. "Valentine Heart" particularly stands out for me in that area.
Found many...
