Nobody is born with racist or bigoted opinions or feelings. Those grow out of our experiences and our teachers. I find it interesting that people are getting on certian people's cases because they were not taught that the word is considered a racial slur.

We are not talking about a 5 year-old here, we are talking about a guy who could be a part of the government. If he doesn't know that using the term Jap is inappropriate then he's, umm, not fit to be part of the government because he's obviously got a few gaps in his head.
If someone truly doesn't know they are saying something offensive then they get a free-pass. This guy should know.
