Since you will be there, I'd suggest San Antonio instead of Big D or Houston. The River Walk and the Alamo can take up an entire day. SA is closer to Austin.

Austin is longhorn central and it sucks... mainly because im a sooner but they do have i think its called 6th ave ....... its just a street filled with bars where all the college kids go to get drunk. SO wear your sunglasses
and get down there and check out the hot texas chicks ( the only good thing about the univ of texas is they do have some incredibly gorgeous women)
