I didn't have to stand in line. Walked into the office, gave my on-line completed documents, photos, and paid the fee to the pre-screening officer, she said thank you, and I turned around and walked out. It took 2 minutes.
Application by snail mail takes a long time.... even if there are no problems. If there are problems with your application... you'll be waiting forever.
