I can't believe you put GST on the list. The GST is one reason we have a balanced budget and not a bankrupt nation heading into the current fiscal Crisis.
It was put in at the perfect time as well. A parting gift from a PM that was going down anyways so instead of thinking about getting re-elected he created a tax that would cost any party an election.
In fact the GST was so successful consecutive liberal governments campaigned on getting rid of it and the used the revenues to balance the budget.
The GST was one of the best political decisions recently.
