Turns out my father and uncle legged it outa there and went to a friends house. He turned up before I went to bed.
I know this is the internet and it's easy to tell a story but all I can say is it's hard to explain the bitterness. I wasn't even there in person but a few years back took my wife and inlaws to the memorial and had to dissappear around the corner for a sob.

I don't know quite how to describe it, but its always very grounding when personal perspective is attached to historical events.
