I think you need some stats to support this because I can guarantee there have been periods of significantly greater dissatisfaction.

The people are happy with the government? Really? The fact that the Conservatives could not get a majority shows that people are scared to give them too much power.

It's your prerogative to suggest whatever you want. Troutman posted an excellent opinion piece which really talks about the root of this problem. The Conservatives have only themselves to blame.
Unfortunately because this has become so political, the proper solution cannot be had.
