Such a coalition would probably be strong to govern for a full term and would leave the NDP and Bloc in the dust.

I wouldn't have a problem with that, given the alternative.
There's certainly enough Liberals that jumped off the Dion train within minutes of election results, and although he's being put in there in this plan as simply a placeholder with the hope that he can last long enough to put the next Liberal leader in as PM, I think the Liberals will be smart enough to see that the coaltion plan, and Dion at its helm, will do more damage to that party in the next election (whenever that is) then it will do good, nevermind the permanant association and taste of being in bed with the NDP and Bloc.
That said, it would have to be all or none for the Liberals to agree to this, and not sure the "blue" Liberals have enough swagger to convince the other 60% or so further left of center liberals.
