Pick and choose...A repeal of the corporate tax cuts, upping the GST back to 7%, increase in personal income taxes etc etc. Essentially increase the tax burden to the general populace and/or businesses.

B) Why is this even neccessary until we find out what the American's are going to do about their economy and the auto industry.
It's not necessary. It's a power grab and they hope to satisfy public opinion by throwing a huge number out there with the tag "economic stimulus". There is a public perception that because the US did it that Canada should do it as well, though there is no mortgage crisis in Canada like there is/was in the US.

Numbers out today also show growth in the Canadian economy compared to contraction of the US economy. Growth that outpaced predictions by a bit. They expect the numbers to get worse of course but it does seem to suggest that the Tories are indeed correct that the Canadian economy will come out of this WORLDWIDE recession better than most industrialized nations.

Well would have. Who knows what possible damage could be done right now.

I live in Nova Scotia. It's has a heavy concentration of Liberal and NDP supporters. I have yet to talk to one that supports this move. Many are getting upset that Chretiens friends seem to be taking prominent roles. This is not what people voted for and they are NOT happy.
