This will be interesting...

I was listening to a few of her songs the other day, and I figured I'd take a chance and stand by my pick.

In the POP category, I'm taking PINK - Missundaztood.

  1. "M!ssundaztood" (Linda Perry, Pink) – 3:36
  2. "Don't Let Me Get Me" (Dallas Austin, Pink) – 3:31
  3. "Just like a Pill" (Austin, Pink) – 3:57
  4. "Get the Party Started" (Perry) – 3:11
  5. "Respect" (Perry, Pink) featuring Scratch – 3:25
  6. "18 Wheeler" (Austin, Pink) – 3:44
  7. "Family Portrait" (Pink, Scott Storch) – 4:56
  8. "Misery" (Richie Supa) featuring Steven Tyler – 4:33
  9. "Dear Diary" (Perry, Pink) – 3:29
  10. "Eventually" (Perry, Pink) – 3:34
  11. "Lonely Girl" (Perry) featuring Linda Perry – 4:21
  12. "Numb" (Austin, Pink) – 3:06
  13. "Gone to California" (Perry, Pink) – 4:34
  14. "My Vietnam" (Perry, Pink) – 5:19
As I've stated before, the artists I enjoy have more than the pipes in their voice. There's passion, pain, struggle, hope, and raw emotion when it comes to this album. I wouldn't consider it one of the all time bests, but when it came to the POP category, it was either her, or Justin Timberlake... I crap you not.

The deciding factor came in the form of two songs on this album. "Just Like A Pill" is so calm, and yet so intense at the same time, you don't know where she's going with the song, talking about taking pills, and life support, while tying it all into her love affair.

But "Family Portrait" is absolutely amazing. Knowing a little of her background, it's almost Pink's way of calling out her family for what she had to go through. Again, the pain and anguish in her voice tells most of the story. I've never heard anyone fake the cadence, the rasp, the passion that Pink delivers in this song.

The rest are Top 40 fodder... "Get The Party Started", "Don't Let Me Get Me". Nothing to see here.

I haven't heard it in a while, but "My Vietnam" is up there when it comes to the passion that I'm looking for in an artist.

From wiki:
After Can't Take Me Home P!nk wanted to have control over her own music. She stated that: "All the girls that came out in the last couple of years, we all got thrown into one bucket. I don't want people to throw me in that bucket."[2] She recruited 4 Non Blondes singer Linda Perry to help her with writing a new album. According to Pink in VH1 Driven she left a message on Perry's answering machine after finding her number in make-up artist Billy B's phone book, saying she wanted to write with her.[2] The reason that she wanted to write with Perry was: "Bigger, Better, Faster, More!" was one of my favorite albums, and I used to sit on the corner in Doylestown with my two friends that played guitar,"

I caught a live performance by Pink in Wembley Stadium, on HDNet, and it was amazing to see her cover 4 Non Blonde's "What's Up?". Such respect for Linda Perry.

(Looks like BMG doesn't like embeding of their videos... so we're going live with these)
