Actually he sucked, but he had an uncanny ability to score goals when i was in the building.
The year before I got my season tickets I went to 2 games, and Jeff Shantz scored in both of those games (His only two goals of the season). Then the year I did get my season tickets, he played in one per season game (that of course I was at) and he scored a goal. He was then promtly traded to Colorado in the Drury/Yelle deal.
But man, I count that as another one of Craig Button's mamoth mistakes, sure we got Yeller, but he could have found some better fodder to throw in. With me having season tickets, Shantz was guaranteed a 41 goal season. Hence my love of Jeff Shantz.
