I don't know about that, might be PR spin. There had to be a reason they promoted him as the first guest, then kept bumping him, unless they were trying to dissuade him from doing his weird act. But it isn't beyond the realm of possibility that it was all a stunt, something in the vein of Andy Kaufman. But pretty sure the hair was real, not a wig, as he looked pretty much the same in River's Edge. But he does strike me as the type of person who would/could play weirdness up for publicity, so who knows?
