Ill Communication, released in 1994, saw the Beastie Boys' return to the top of the charts when the album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 & peaked at #2 on the R&B/ hip hop album chart. The single "
Sabotage" (

modern rock charts and the music video, directed by
Spike Jonze, received extensive play on MTV. "Get It Together" reached Top 10 of the Billboard dance charts and also became an urban hit while "Sure Shot" was a dance hit.
Some Old Bull, featuring the band's early independent material, made #50 on the Billboard independent charts.

I remember hanging out with a buddy of mine, and his brother had this CD... blew my mind. From easily one of my all time fave songs "Sabotage", to the catchy "Sure Shot" and "Root Down", a sweet collection of yelling, screaming, but also a great look into what Rap should be about. Not money, cash, hoes... but I believe someone back in the day rhymed about "the message". Lyrically one of the greatest rap acts to ever come out. And "Flute Loop" is just genious.
