I just have a fundamental problem with a system that sees a team ranked at #5 on Saturday morning....goes out wins its game 56-0 that evening, and then Sunday morning sees itself as #7 in the country. That means in the course of 24 hours two other teams became better even though USC did exactly what it was supposed to do to at least stay where they were. There is a serious flaw in such a system. essentially they were penalized for winning. Just wrong on every level.
Hell...never mind that, but Texas Tech climbed 5 spots with one win. I dont EVER remember that happening before. Was it a great game and a tremendous win? Of course...it was a classic. But how that translates into the shuffle that occurred is nothing short of bizarre.

No it does not, it means the previous rankings were wrong and a weeks worth of games help people reevaluate each teams schedule. This thinking and the concept of pre season rankings are the worst things in college football. If you want a playoff that is one thing, but there is only 12 games, people who vote should be able to look back at the prior week and say I over or under valued someone based on what I saw this week.
USC beating the Buckeyes is a perfect example. USC talks about how they beat a top 5 team, or whatever they were ranked. They were not a top 5 team and we know that now, we should be able to go back and say actually that win was nice, but not as big a deal as we thought.
