A tip for wearing one: the best way to attach it is to put the pin through the poppy itself after putting it through your shirt the second time. It is hard to explain, but doing this makes it pretty much impossible to fall off.
People think I'm anti-war and anti-military. I'm really just anti-stupid war and anti-frivolous military. I'm intensely proud and am extremely thankful of those who sacrificed their lives for us (not counting those who died in Afghanistan, but I don't want to get into that in a thread like this).

So those who sacrificed their lives in Afghanistan made less of a sacrifice than those who lost their lives at the Somme or at Dieppe or during the Holland liberation or during the Korean War?
A life lost under the flag of ones nation is a life which is worth honoring. It doesn't matter which campaign or in which offensive, it is a life of one of our nations heroes and should be respected as such.
EDIT: You turned it into a thread with political overtones when you posted that you were not thankful for the sacrifices of the 97 Canadian soldiers who never came back from Afghanistan to see their loved ones.
