Well, not exactly a scientific survey, but I was listening to CBC radio today at lunch and they asked some people in Ottawa, and many thought Calgary was theAlberta capital.

I guess there is a celebration of Alberta culture at one of the museums in Ottawa. Alberta artists, musicians, and other Albertans who have contributed to some aspect of Canadian culture are featured there. Anyway, the CBC radio person asked people at the museum questions about Alberta, and many answered that Calgary was the capital of Alberta. Most immediately corrected themsleves, but it was still pretty funny. The person asking the questions then asked why they thought Calgary, and basically people in the east have the impression that Calgary is more recognizable, cosmopolitan, prettier, etc...

I don't know why I am posting this, I guess I thought it was kind of interesting. I of course agree and think Calgary is an excellent city, but I was suprised that people out east do distinguish Calgary and Edmonton so well.
