The Nashville Predators have acquired Shane Doan from the Philadelphia Flyers. The deal breaks down as:

To Nashville:

Shane Doan
2009 5th: Phi

To Philadelphia:

Paul Kariya
John Negrin
$1.4 million 2008
2009 3rd: Nas

Basically we made this deal for a few major reasons:

1. We need a more defensive presence in our forwards. Doan can play on the PK and his scoring is also a nice thing to have here!

2. I always regretted not keeping him last season, so this rights a wrong in that sense!

3. It saves us a bit of cap and we are now compliant!

3.5 Doan is an upgrade on Kariya, if only by a couple of points.

The piece that was the hardest to move here in some sense was Negrin. I do really like this kid...but I do wonder how long he'll toil in the minors with other guys like Pelech and Pardy clearly ahead of him.
