It's supposed to be a spin-off of the Office, but no one really knows exactly what that means since they've said there won't be any regular characters from The Office going to the new show.
According to this, it might only be a spin-off in the sense that it will also follow the mockumentary in a workplace format...

I believe that Amy is due in mid-November and is planning on leaving SNL after the election, which would mean only 2 or 3 more weeks with her.
