Obviously, if you can't handle milk, you shouldn't be drinking the stuff after a workout. But the past few years everyone and his dog has been pushing the whole 'post-workout shake'.....which happens to be extremely costly. I wasn't talking about lactose intolerant. Milk as a food source is not all it's advertised to be. Milk is getting linked to more and more intestinal track disorders (Crohns, Colitus, IBS, etc). Could be the amount of steroids and hormones that end up in the milk due to dairy farming practices, but it could also be that adult mammals really arn't setup to digest milk fat and protein (reduction in the enzyme that babies have apparently).
This is heresay though, so correct me if I'm wrong. All I know is that I can drink skim milk most of the time, but if I start drinking anything higher then 1% regularily, my stomach doesn't like me very much.
There has to be better things to consume after a work out then milk...
