1. Canada is in Afghanistan because Article 5 of the NATO treaty was invoked post 9/11

2. The Liberals under Chretien were the govering party whom first committed troops to the mission

3. The Afghan mission was extended until 2011 by a 198-77 vote in Parliment based upon the recommendations contained in the Manley report (hint: he's a Liberal)
