I guess it just depends how they use the money they raise. If their raising a whole bunch of money that is being put to good use, and offsetting their carbon I don't see the problem.

Do you expect them to build the first green SUV and use that too? I mean I can see how it looks to be hypocritical but on the other hand, everyone has to use vehicles at some point for somethings. If they are using it to help promote and pay for positive change, then why not?

I think you expect a little too much from them.
