Extremely moving movie, beautifully shot in B.C. and wonderfully acted by Ian Holm, Bruce Greenwood and a young Sarah Polley. The first time I saw this movie, I was asleep on the couch in the mdidle of the night. (fell asleep there..not banished to!) and Polley's version of The Tragically Hip's 'Courage' woke me up. It was strange. So I ended up watching the rest of the movie and then had to go rent it to see the beginning. It's haunting and deals with one of the most horrific topics imaginable, dealing with the death of children. Highly recommended. I think this is another example of how effective scoring and cinematography can be. Seems to be a theme among my picks.
