Myself, igitang, dragonsoul and chuckie enter a game against 6 guys ... the proverbial golden ticket. Not only are they forced to ice a goalie, but they must do so against some of the fatas more skilled players (i speak more for the others than myself). I believe it was Chuckie who made a comment similar to "get ready to fix your +/-". Ironically, our most stat-happy member (igitang) was dc'd before the first shift even ended. That pretty much sets everything up.
A few minutes into the first Chuckie wins a draw in the neutral zone. The cpu defenceman pretty much one-times the puck down the ice - so far down the ice in fact that we were all able to take a breath and contemplate what the cpu player was doing. By the time the puck reached the other end we all realized that the opposition goalie was for some reason doing figure 8's in the restricted "no-zone". The only thing funnier than watching the computer score from centre ice was the feeble pad the goalie threw out to save the shot while 10 feet from his own net.
From that point on the floodgates essentially opened to hilarious results. The goalie would occasionaly join the rush, once even trying to get into the passing lane at the point. Once we just cleared the zone and for some reason the goalie was at centre ice, skating like a mad-man to chase the puck back to his net. That was pretty much the point that we were all crying with laughter. The banter on the cp chat with igi was hysterical. in the time it would take igi to ask if we really had 6 goals, we scored two. By the time he confirmed we had 8 goals, we'd scored two more. At one point they started feeling bad for me back there on D, so they were forcing me the pass. By this time the goalie was pulled (they opted for the extra attacker after goal 9) so they just wanted me to get in on the action. It actually took me 3 shots, but i finally potted one! It wasn't until the replay that I relized the goalie was actually in the play ... he was covering me the whole time ... it was brilliant.
When the dust settled and blood dried the final tally was 10-0. Thanks to a couple pp goals we all ended up with a fairly reasonable +8. Not bad for 15 minutes of work! I think I ended up with my first A+ average. The second star (dragonsoul I believe) had 3 goals and 5 assists, while the first star (chuckie) had 4 goals and 4 helpers.
It was the single greatest moment in cp fata history and it all started with The Half Way Shot™
