And there is the real reason why it isn't selling at the doors. It is difficult to explain and there are doubts as whether it is better. And especially when it is so complex that people naturally want the status quo instead of something they don't quite understand. Bad issue for the Liberals to run on - it's hard to explain and very easy to slam.

The way that it is supposed to work is that a company will be charged a green tax proportional to the amount of carbon dioxide they emit. We have had debates in other threads where you can see both sides discuss whether that tax will be passed on to the consumer or not. But the theory is that if there is two companies that produce a product, the one emitting the least carbon dioxide will have a profit advantage. But there are definitely some industries where demand is not elastic where they have the luxury of just passing off any additional tax onto the consumer.
