I could have been a little more clear in that post. I wouldn't suggest
replacing an aide with a student, but I am suggesting that in appropriate circumstances it is worth considering having another student act as a tutor or mentor on the subject at hand (ie. math) for set times.
I cannot accept the argument that it would stagnate the student who is the tutor, as they are now having the opporotunity to develop interpersonal, tolerance, and leadership skills. But I guess they don't count because they're not measurable by any curriculum and so are much less important.
And its not like they wouldn't be supervised.
