2010's emblem won't be as distinct or as recognizeable as this in 20 years.
Red and white, maple leafs, snow flake with a bunch of "C"'s for Canada and Calgary.
Simple.
With all the different elements and colors supposed to represent Canada's physical and ethnic cultural diversity with Vancouvers, its a little too complicated, and needs a proper explanation to see it as a somewhat cool logo and understand. If thats black and white without the colors...it loses some cache, and looks like an attempt at drawing JS Gigure in MS Paint by fotze.
Ours in 1988 was instantly recognizable, red color or not...the more you looked, the more you could see in it on your own.
