Man, is that ever a weak, weak crop of unrestricted free agents compared to what was going to be before agents came along. IMO Robert Lang and Alexander Mogilny are the only guys who could play on a top line, and theres rumors of Mogilny retiring. In net, Hasek could maybe do one more year, and Dan Cloutier would certainly improve a few teams. But I'd say that the advent of agents basically eliminated unrestricted free agency from our game as most GM's signed anyone that was worth keeping. I'm not blaming agents by any means, as cap does go down next year, so taking money now is a move that can't be blamed. But as a GM I liked the chance to go add some guys to my team over the summer, especially for GM's that took over bad teams at mid-season. But for the second straight summer it looks like a pretty poor crop of UFA's.
