Sorry I won't be raving about how great "Reign of Fire" (my previous pick) is, but I only have time for my actual pick now. I'm extremely surprised that this is still available (correct me if I'm wrong). I don't usually like sports movies that much and I did enjoy this quite a bit, so it's pretty obvious choice for me. Great fun, simply a very well done film.

One obvious reason for the success of this film is the collection of then or future star actors; Charlie Sheen, Wesley Snipes, Dannis Haysbert, Rene Russo, Tom Berenger, Corbin Bernsen...

"Come on Dorn, get in front of the damn ball! Don't give me this "olé" bull!"

As our 11th round pick, team Selfmade Heroes is happy to pick Major League (1989) in the Sports category.

"Pedro Cerrano: Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come.
Eddie Harris: You know you might think about taking Jesus Christ as your savior instead of fooling around with all this stuff.
Roger Dorn: , Harris.
Pedro Cerrano: Jesus, I like him very much, but he no help with curveball.
Eddie Harris: You trying to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball? "

The basic premise of the movie...

Gotta love president Pedro

And of course, the famous "Wild Thing" -scene. (This also includes a scene from Major League II, sorry, youtube had surprisingly little on this movie.

The movie definitely has things going for it in the sports category, especially because many of the actors could actually play baseball. For example, Charlie Sheen at the time of filming could actually pitch at speeds well above 80 mph, and Dennis Haysbert actually hit a few homeruns during the filming process.
