As Octothorp said, If you have to explain/underline the joke for it to be effective, then a) your joke probably wasn't comedic genius anyway, or b) the nature of the joke is totally ruined because of it's obvious setup.

Me calling colored text gay was in reference to the current thread about Clay Aiken coming out. I guess you either got it or you didn't. No need to tell anyone to laugh.
