One of the things I love about Bill Murray is how the characters he tends to play now are a darker, roughed up version of that same jocular character he played in his early films, Ghostbusters and such. It's entertaining now to watch those early films and see the traces of that darker character inside his lighter roles. Groundhog Day marks a real transition point between the two. Great film.
