We have some LED GU10 (halogen track lighting) bulbs at our office, in fact, my office is totally LED bulbs, a LED bulb that is about 4 watts is about as bright as a 30-35 Watt Halogen bulb. I have ten of the LED bulbs in my office, and that is plenty of light.
They are expensive, but they should last about 10 times as long as a CFL bulb. The ones we have were $36 a bulb.
A 1 Watt LED bulb won't give off much light, you'll want to find one that is about 3-4 watts, if it for anything other than mood lighting.
This is where we bought our LED bulbs, they are out of Saskatoon.
Thanks to them operating a LOT cooler then the equivalent halogen bulb, you wont have to Air Condition as much in the summer.
