The Minnesota Wild are pleased to announce that Daniel Alfredsson has been named the captain of the team for the 2009/2010 season.

In addition, Chris Kelly and Jay Bouwmeester have been named alternate captains.

GM Farhall:
"Frankly it was a pretty easy choice for us. Though he is new to the organization, Danny is a guy that has shown his leadership abilities and will set the tone on the ice. Jay is still developing but we think he's ready to take this next step as a leader for us. Chris is a natural choice as well."

Alfredsson becomes the 5th captain named since GM Farhall took over, following Dan McGillis (twice), Mats Sundin, Paul Kariya and Joe Sakic.
