I have never seen anything in HD besides the nice beach scene you see at the electronics stores. I am preparing myself to be blown away. I hope it hasn't been overhyped!

I was in the same shoes you were. Bought the sweet HD tv, had the sweet HD receiver, and the sweet HD programming. So I was expecting some HD hockey action with my NHL Center Ice. Not to be! Why? Because you have to make sure that your cable provider actually provides HD channels for those games to be shown in HD.
For me Time Warner still doesn't provide games in HD, so I was out of luck all season. The only HD games i saw were on ABC (and the NHL Network channel). Hopefully this season they upgrade...or else I'm leaving for satellite (starchoice provides Center Ice games in HD).
