Some of us goofballs get gift certificates to help buy some larger priced items that we might not be able to afford for awhile and need to save up some cash in the mean time to be able to afford the rest of the big ticket item. I might have also got a gift card from a place like say Future Shop last christmas but haven't had anything i wanted to buy from them til say Rock Band 2 comes out on Sunday.
Why should I be forced to go out and blow this gift certificate on something i don't want or need just because the retailer wants to close the sale right now??? It has nothing to do with not understanding expiry dates and everything to do with me not wanting to be forced to spend it on someone elses schedule.
These retailers were getting away with robbery before, you'd think a guarentee that the 50$ would eventually be spent in their store would be enough incentive for them to sell them. The only reason they got away with it because the end reciever rarely ever saw the fine print because they cant fit it all on the cards. Then they went to redeem it and it was too late.
