I guess I was just wondering how important art/culture is to a city. I think infrastructure (good infrastructure, fancy stuff) and roads/transportation are key, but how often are art museums visited if they arn't world clas?
Down here in SJ (probably the highest concentration of degree's / PhDs in North America, if not the world) infrastructure has allowed Google to move into SGI's building (i.e. Googleplex in Mountain View), I believe eBay moved into someone's building, the SJ Convention Center which is conviniently downtown holding huge convensions like NVision (Nvidia), Photonics West and so on.
For Art, I know that is more of a San Fransico thing (1 hr away). I don't know how priminant it is in SJ or the South Bay area.
I see alot of similiarities between Calgary and San Jose and was wondering if you had any idea about the art scene (if any) in SJ and how it might help SJ.
