If I am tipping, I usually tip in the 15-25% range (subject to performance) and I will write the total on the bill (so for example) I would write in $40 for a $33.18 bill. If a server has a problem with that, I will gladly never tip again. I see no difference for visa versus cash versus debit. I track all of my expenses, and it is way easier to data enter $40 than $33.18 (cause I would type $33.81 and never notice and be out that mount at the end of the month for my statement reconciliations). It is really not worth the the hassle.

In terms of what I tip

Gas Station guy - zip, mostly cause I never do full serve
Hair Sylist - $5
Pizza Delivery guy - rarely use (I usually pick up in the neighborhood), but when we get one, it is around 15%
Newspaper courier - never get the paper, and would never tip
Pickup at restaurant - don't tip (agree - for what am I tipping)
Guy who cleans my clubs at golf course - $1/$2 (depending on what is in my golf bag)
Baby Sitter - $5-$10 depending on how long we were gone
Cleaning staff at hotel - usually the spare change that accumulates on the night stand over the time I am there
Strippers - $20 if the service is really good ;-)
