I guess I don't see the big deal with rounding when paying debit/credit. Using your example, are you saying it would be better to give $19.88 on debit instead of $20?

When I worked in bars and restaurants the only thing that crossed my mind with a tip was if it was a decent tip or not.

And just to add, going back to paying a tab with friends.... if the bill is $82.43 and there is 4 of us; if I run $25 through on debit it makes it very easy for me to throw my copy of the debit transaction into the pile; as opposed to putting in $24.61
