With our 16th round pick, #326 overall (I think), AliceLoveGarden is proud to select in the Wildcard Singer category, Damon Johnson.

Damon Johnson is awesome. I was a big fan of Brother Cane and as a big fan of Queensryche I stumbled upon a side project of QR drummer Scott Rockenfield called Slave To The System. This little group released one album in 2002 and Johnson played guitar, wrote and sang on it. It is excellent! I look forward to getting into his very early stuff and maybe even taking a taste of his country project, Whiskey Falls.
Damon Rogers Johnson (born on
July 13,
1964) is an American born guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, best known for his work with the
hard rock band
Brother Cane, and as a guitarist for
Alice Cooper. He is currently the lead guitarist and backup vocalist for the
country music group
Whiskey Falls.
It was
Brother Cane that would bring Damon genuine national notoriety. The band released three albums on
Virgin Records (the self titled debut which sold 250,000 copies, "
Seeds," and "
Wishpool") that would yield three #1 singles on rock radio ("
Got No Shame," "
And Fools Shine On," and "
I Lie in the Bed I Make"). "
And Fools Shine On" was also featured in the horror film "
Halloween 6." Brother Cane toured extensively as a headliner and also as a supporting act on tours by
Van Halen,
Aerosmith,
Robert Plant,
Lynyrd Skynyrd, and
Candlebox. After what
Virgin Records considered an unsatisfactory yield for record sales, the band was released from their contract, and amicably disbanded in
1998.

Got No Shame, Brother Cane
And Fools Shine On, Brother Cane
Leaves, Slave to the System
Stigmata, Slave to the System
There are several other great tracks I'd love to post here but alas...no youtube videos for them.
Specifically, check out the entire Slave to the System record, but I'm thinking of Abyss and Walk The Line. Brother Cane's Make Your Play is probably my favorite from his early stuff.
Enjoy!
