Actually the dangerous offender tag is one that's political in nature used to keep people in prison who otherwise, if released from prison, would draw attention to the fact that our prison sentances are a complete joke. As long as there's a provision to keep the Bernados and Olsens locked away indefinately average Canadians are totally oblivious to the vast number of murderers and rapists that are set free on a regular basis to live amongst them after serving embarassingly short sentances.
