I dunno, I see this more as a case of social darwinism. Common sense says that you do not leave valuables unattended in an easily viewable location. This woman failed common sense, that's her fault, not the store's. This is regardless of whether there is any kind of known crime spree in the area. I don't see any reason why the store should have any responsibility towards someone else's property once it leaves their store.

She was at a different store when the theft occurred. What's Future Shop supposed to do? Install security cameras throughout the city?
